This page is the book's front matter: every text, dataset, map layer, and typeface this site serves, with its license and where it came from. Our honesty rule applies to our own supply chain first. If you spot an error here, it matters to us — see the project link in the footer.
Bible texts
- King James Version (KJV, 1769 standardization) — public domain in the United States (in the United Kingdom, Crown letters patent formally apply). Text via the helloao Free Use Bible API / eBible.org lineage.
- World English Bible (WEB) — dedicated to the public domain by its makers (worldenglish.bible); "World English Bible" is their trademark. Via helloao/eBible.org.
- Berean Standard Bible (BSB) — placed into the public domain April 30, 2023 (berean.bible). Via helloao.
All three translations are served whole — 66 books, 1,189 chapters each — from this site's own static files; no third-party calls happen when you read.
Geographic data
- Bible geocoding, candidate sites, and scholarly confidence scores — OpenBible.info Bible Geocoding, licensed CC BY 4.0. The confidence percentages you see on markers and 📍 verse links aggregate ~70 scholarly sources — their work, gratefully credited.
- Curated place entries (ancient/modern names, era notes, honest status labels) — this project's own research, compiled from public-domain geography texts (Hurlbut's Bible Atlas, 1910; and others held in the project archive) and open data above.

- Map rendering — MapLibre GL JS (BSD-3-Clause).
- Base map tiles — OpenFreeMap, style © OpenMapTiles, data © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL).

- Archaic-word glosses — a small plain-English reading aid, this project's own work; every tooltip carries its ⚠ disclaimer: a reading aid, never the text itself.
- Verse→place links — computed offline by joining OpenBible geocoding references (CC BY 4.0, above) to our chapter files.

- IM Fell English — the Fell Types digitally reproduced by Igino Marini, iginomarini.com (Scripture text).
- Cormorant — Christian Thalmann, Catharsis Fonts (prose).
All three under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, self-hosted on this site's own servers — no font CDN, no tracking.
Coming lanes (already license-verified, not yet live)
- Hebrew & Greek interlinear data — STEPBible TAHOT/TAGNT and lexicons (CC BY 4.0): data from STEP Bible. This credit line will accompany the feature when it ships.
- Reina-Valera 1909 (Spanish) — public domain; via eBible.org.
